West Chester is outlet hot spot
May 16, 2008
If you’re thinking about a visit to Ikea in West Chester, Ohio there’s another reason to make the drive to this suburb of Cincinnati.
A few blocks from the Ikea store (take the same Exit 19 from I-75), is an outlet center with a Frontgate, Ballard Designs and Territory Ahead — all of them with huge savings.
When I dropped by recently, Ballard Designs, which already offered big discounts on catalog merchandise, had another 40 percent off all wall decor. And it’s an enormous store with everything from wall clocks to bar stools.
And the Frontgate store had in stock lots of beautiful outdoor furniture and decor and pool accessories too. Frontgate merchandise means luxury prices (the Carlisle chaise lounge, above, retails for $995) but the outlet store offers up to 75 percent off some itms.
The outlet center is located at 8939 Union Centre Boulevard in West Chester, Ohio. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.

While I grew up in small-town Kentucky I’ve always been fascinated with the cosmopolitan world of high fashion. On the other hand, I love a bargain and the thrill of shopping for just the right piece.
I have a degree in English from the University of Kentucky, and since 2002 I’ve written a column for the Lexington Herald-Leader about shopping, beauty and fashion. During that time I’ve interviewed everyone from designers to boutique owners about trends and style. And I’m still forever searching for the next big sale.
